Position Overview

As a W3C Standards Delegate at microTECH Global LTD, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of web standards. This is a permanent position requiring on-site presence in West London three days a week, with a flexible salary structure.

Key Responsibilities

The Web Standards Team at microTECH Global LTD is dedicated to advancing web strategies by:

  • Leading initiatives within W3C and contributing to the development of future web standards.
  • Engaging with the web development community to promote web standards and gather insights on future browser requirements.
  • Providing strategic guidance to development teams to inform the evolution of internet browsers and contributions to Chromium.

Specific Duties

  • Actively represent and participate in W3C standards activities.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of web standardization in alignment with product roadmaps.
  • Guide product strategies to ensure alignment with the progression of web standards.
  • Engage with developers through various channels, including blog posts, conference presentations, and social media, to advocate for web standards and Web Platform features.
  • Develop prototypes to assist in the API development process and create demonstrations in collaboration with internal and external partners.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A solid background in web development with a comprehensive understanding of existing and emerging web standards, particularly those established by W3C.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, Web APIs, and related technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of delivering high-quality solutions within specified constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences.
  • A willingness to travel internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional desirable skills include:

  • Experience working within W3C standards or specification groups.
  • An understanding of emerging privacy standardization efforts and privacy-preserving features in browsers.
  • Experience in writing technical blogs and contributing to podcasts.
  • Knowledge of the mobile device and browser market.
  • Familiarity with the Android platform.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English, both written and spoken.
