Job Title: Diabetes Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to patients with diabetes, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver an integrated package of care.

The role will involve providing inpatient diabetes support, staff training, and working closely with community healthcare professionals to deliver a seamless service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist diabetes management and care to patients in an inpatient setting.
  • Support and train NCIC staff in relation to inpatient management of diabetes.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of local guidance for the care of people with diabetes in hospital.
  • Review patients with diabetes in an outpatient setting.
  • Be a specialist resource for the care and support of patients with diabetes and their families.
Requirements
  • Degree level education in Nursing.
  • NMC registration.
  • Post-Basic qualification in specialist area (Diabetes) or willingness to work towards within the first year of appointment.
  • Adult Education Teaching Certificate.
