About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to lead our research and innovation efforts as the Group Director of Research and Innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly formed provider collaborative of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and improving delivery of research and innovation across NHS and academic organisations. They will be responsible for developing and implementing a unified approach to research and innovation across the Group, sharing best practice and making best use of resources to increase participation of both patients and staff in clinical research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a research and innovation strategy that aligns with the Group's goals and objectives
  • Lead the development and delivery of research and innovation projects across the Group
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for research and innovation and develop proposals for funding
  • Manage a research portfolio across complex organisations and attract external funding to support research infrastructure development
  • Drive innovative approaches and deliver transformational change through evidence-based practice
Person Specification

We are looking for someone with a clinical qualification, full registration with a relevant regulatory body, and a higher research degree. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of R&I leadership in the NHS, experience of managing a research portfolio, and a good understanding of the NHS and national research strategies.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence continuing professional development, analyse complex information and issues, and demonstrate the ability to think creatively and seek out and spread innovation to generate new solutions to challenges.
