About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Research and Innovation to lead our research and innovation strategy across the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering research and innovation initiatives in the NHS, with a strong understanding of the national research strategies and the local and national research landscapes.

They will be responsible for developing and implementing a research and innovation strategy that aligns with the Trust's goals and objectives, and for leading a team of researchers and innovators to deliver high-quality research and innovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a research and innovation strategy that aligns with the Trust's goals and objectives
  • Lead a team of researchers and innovators to deliver high-quality research and innovation projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the Trust and the NHS to identify opportunities for research and innovation
  • Develop and manage research and innovation budgets and resources
  • Ensure that research and innovation projects are delivered to a high standard and meet the Trust's quality and safety standards
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a strong track record of delivering research and innovation initiatives in the NHS.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A clinical qualification and full registration with a relevant regulatory body
  • A higher research degree and experience of managing a research portfolio
  • Experience of driving innovative approaches and delivering transformational change
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
