SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN teaching assistant to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. As a SEN teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs in a Gloucester-based school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to pupils with SEN, including those with non-verbal communication needs.
  • Develop and implement personalized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  • Utilize behavioral management strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SEN best practices and research to inform your practice.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with SEN pupils, preferably in a 1:1 setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN legislation and policies, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of support and intervention programs for SEND.
