Academic Research Liaison Specialist

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board is a pioneering organisation committed to improving care for patients through robust, evidence-based healthcare commissioning and impactful research.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support the effective delivery of research management activities across our board. Our Research Team is a customer-focused, innovative support to academics working with health and care colleagues, and a support to health & care colleagues working with academics on applied research projects with mutual benefits.
This full-time, one-year fixed-term post comes with an estimated salary of £**50,000 - £60,000 per annum**, depending on experience. The funding for this post is allocated annually, so we are limited in contract length, but there is an expectation that the post will be extended.
The Research Team supports the generation and development of research ideas, helps create collaborative multi-disciplinary teams, contributes to securing project funding, and is involved in the planning and delivery of research. We also support impact from research findings, facilitating their accelerated uptake in the local health & care system.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Research Manager in delivering the annual Research Team workplan and contribute to knowledge mobilisation efforts.
- Oversee a sub-section of our research portfolio, supporting the full breadth of the research journey.
- Identify and assess risks associated with any course of action, mitigate and manage those risks.
- Represent us on hosted grant project management group meetings, sharing best practice between research teams and offering guidance.
- Support other Clinical Effectiveness members as needed and deputise for the Research Portfolio Manager on an ad-hoc basis.
- Directly manage the Research Communication Officer, responsible for day-to-day work assigned to this role.
- Support the use of research as part of our core business.
- Contribute to the image of the Research Team as a dynamic, customer-focused centre of research excellence.
- Facilitate Knowledge Mobilisation to support our effort to ensure evidence informs health & care practice.
- Support the development of high-quality health & care relevant research and actively promote funding opportunities.
- Promote patient involvement in research and all our research activities.
- Work collaboratively with staff from the West of England AHSN and ARC West.
- Deliver established systems to facilitate smooth procedures for ensuring research grants are costed appropriately.
- Influence and inspire NHS staff at all levels to become involved in relevant research.
- Manage a portfolio of projects involving complex activities and projects.
- Maintain a project management methodology providing transparency and a clear audit trail.
- Review and contribute to our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and policies.
- Support preparation for inspections by regulatory authorities.
- Support the provision of research advice, guidance and training to our staff.
- Contribute to engagement activities ensuring the research community is informed of research and development opportunities.
