About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Shift Technician to join our team at CBRE, a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. As a Data Center Shift Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers, providing exceptional service to our clients, and driving operational excellence within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Data Center Systems: You will be responsible for operating and maintaining all M&E systems within the data center, including HV electrical isolations and operations, with a focus on business risk and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality: You will ensure that all specialist sub-contractor visits are conducted in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures, MOPs, and PTWs, and that quality of work is inspected and recommendations are communicated to the Data Center Engineering Manager.
  • Provide Engineering Relief Cover: You will provide backup as engineering relief cover in the event of annual leave, training, or other absence within the engineering team, ensuring minimum staffing arrangements are maintained at all times.
  • Accurately Report Work Orders: You will accurately report all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
  • Attend Meetings and Drills: You will attend weekly team meetings, client meetings as requested, and participate in relevant EOP scenario drills.
  • Manage Operational Resource: You will manage and prioritize operational resource to ensure all data center client requests are attended within SLA.
  • Champion QHSE Compliance: You will champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
  • Comply with Client CEM Process: You will be accountable for the compliance with client CEM process and procedures when undertaking all relevant work orders.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain: You will liaise with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial works.
  • Participate in Training: You will proactively attend nominated training courses as identified by CBRE management in line with DCS training matrix.
  • Drive a Positive Culture: You will drive a positive culture within the team, regarding personal development and training.
  • Actively Contribute to Continuous Improvement: You will actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
  • Coach New Employees: You will coach new employees as part of the CERM process for on-boarding new starters.
  • Manage Planned Maintenance: You will manage all CBRE planned maintenance tasks, ensuring the engineering team deliver PM work allocation on a month by month basis.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance: You will participate in engineering Quality Assurance process, to validate the standards of completed works.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 Years Relevant Experience: You will have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in data center or critical environment operations.
  • HV Authorised Person: You will be an HV Authorised Person.
  • Relevant Qualifications: You will have a HNC/HND in a relevant field or associated Electrical/Mechanical Apprenticeship (or similar).
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
  • Operational Excellence: You will drive operational excellence within the team.
  • IT and Report Writing Skills: You will have very good IT and report writing skills.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: You will be able to lead a team when under pressure, whilst remaining calm, clear thinking and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
  • Commitment and Experience: You will demonstrate commitment and previous experience, and be willing to attend on and off-site training for plant and systems.
  • High Level of Initiative: You will have a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to Comprehend and Act: You will be able to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions.
  • Enthusiasm and Proactivity: You will demonstrate enthusiasm and proactivity, diligence and alertness, with the willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes.
