Data Center Shift Technician

CBRE is a global leader in real estate services, and we are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Shift Technician to join our team in London.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a technically proficient individual with extensive knowledge of critical facilities and data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining all M&E systems within the data center, ensuring compliance with approved standard operating procedures and client change requests.
Key Responsibilities- Operate all M&E systems within the data center in a competent, effective, and efficient manner, including HV electrical isolations and operations.
- Ensure that all specialist sub-contractor visits are conducted in line with approved standard operating procedures, MOPs, and PTWs.
- Provide backup as engineering relief cover in the event of annual leave, training, or other absence within the engineering team.
- Accurately report all completed work orders, including precise recording of critical spares and stock items used during these tasks.
- Attend weekly team meetings, client meetings, and CBRE management meetings as requested.
- Review and prepare MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs, and lead the shift team through relevant EOP scenario drills.
- Complete shift handover reports, ensuring that significant events or activities are noted and effectively communicated to oncoming shifts and CBRE management.
- Manage and prioritize operational resources to ensure all data center client requests are attended within SLA.
- Champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, including hazard/near miss reporting and regular toolbox talks.
- Accountable for compliance with client CEM process and procedures when undertaking all relevant work orders.
- Liaise with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial works.
- Proactively attend nominated training courses as identified by CBRE management in line with the DCS training matrix.
- Drive a positive culture within the team regarding personal development and training.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
- Coach new employees as part of the CERM process for onboarding new starters.
- Manage all CBRE planned maintenance tasks, ensuring the engineering team delivers PM work allocation on a month-by-month basis.
- Participate in engineering quality assurance processes to validate the standards of completed works.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in data center or critical environment operations.
- HV Authorized Person.
- HNC/HND in a relevant field or associated electrical/mechanical apprenticeship.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
- Ability to lead a team under pressure, remaining calm, clear-thinking, and able to deliver required services to the client within given time constraints.
- Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions.
- Enthusiasm and demonstration of proactivity, diligence, and alertness, with a willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes.
