About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Strategy Director to drive the digital strategy of The Scottish Sun, enhancing our online presence and ensuring our content reaches and resonates with a diverse and growing audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee The Scottish Sun website, social channels, and video output to maximize traffic and dwell time.
  • Edit stories to ensure the highest standard of presentation, particularly in headlines, pictures, and video.
  • Work with editorial colleagues across our integrated newsroom for fresh lines, particularly on large live and breaking stories.
  • Manage online news operation, audience teams, and audio/video departments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, including commercial and marketing.
  • Interpret analytics to report to colleagues and the wider business on a regular basis.
  • Maintain an excellent relationship and seek opportunities with the online, audience, sport, tech, and video teams across the whole of News Corp.

Requirements:

  • Digital experience on a fast-paced national news platform.
  • Experience in managing and leading high-performance teams.
  • Expert in SEO, social media, and digital news delivery.
  • Experience of video production, commission, and knowledge of emerging platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytics and ability to interpret data and implement new strategies.
  • Keen awareness of the digital media environment, trends, and audience behaviors.
  • Skilled in creating commercially viable editorial projects and initiatives.
  • Understanding of Scottish Sun DNA and how it translates to digital platforms.
  • Fully aware of legal issues, the Editors' Code of Practice, and IPSO standards.
