Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated Youth Care Specialist to join our team at Hampshire County Council.


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children and young people in our residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.


Salary Information


The estimated salary for this role is £26,000 - £28,500 per annum, depending on experience.


Key Responsibilities



  • To work directly with children and young people, building positive relationships and supporting their goals and development;
  • To provide individualized care and support, taking into account the unique needs and strengths of each child;
  • To maintain a safe and nurturing environment, adhering to health and safety protocols and policies;
  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of activities and programs that promote social, emotional, and educational growth;
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to ensure seamless care and support.

Requirements and Qualifications


We are looking for an individual who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for working with children and young people. The ideal candidate will have:



  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification;
  • Experience working in a residential childcare setting, preferably with children and young people aged 0-18 years;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties;
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and ability to undergo regular background checks.
