M/LK Education Search is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Art Psychotherapist to join our team in a therapeutic school located in the South East region of London. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality art therapy services to children and young people with complex needs.

  • Ethical Practice: Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of conducting therapy ethically, safely, and with consent from all parents, carers, and pupils.">
  • Program Planning: We require an individual who can plan and prepare effective therapy programs for children, with support from teachers and leaders.">
  • Progress Reports: The successful candidate will be expected to complete termly therapy reports on pupils' progress in individual and group therapy sessions.">
  • Best Practice Role Model: As a role model of best practice, our ideal candidate will demonstrate emotion coaching and other key therapeutic strategies.">
  • Collaboration: We are looking for an individual who can liaise with the lead therapist, senior head of therapy, and the OHS multidisciplinary team to support pupils.">
  • Family Relationships: Building positive relationships with children's families through consistent contact is essential.">
  • Safety and Supervision: Our ideal candidate will ensure children are supervised and safe at all times.">
  • Information Gathering: Obtaining key information on pupils through parent/carer communication is crucial.">
  • Accurate Documentation: Keeping accurate and concise therapy notes, stored securely to maintain confidentiality, is vital.">
  • Transitions and Resources: Supporting smooth transitions, including preparation and implementation of relevant resources, is a key responsibility.">
  • Tailored Support: Providing support to ensure pupils can access their learning, tailoring therapeutic programs to individual needs, is essential.">
  • Collaboration with Teams: Working with the teaching team and other therapy members to develop therapy progress plans is critical.">
  • Parent Engagement: Attending therapy meetings, open days, and relevant meetings with professionals is necessary.">
  • Professional Development: Participating in regular meetings, training, and learning activities, contributing to the school's ethos and aims, is essential.">
  • External Supervision: Organizing and attending individual external supervision to support therapeutic work is vital.">
  • Confidentiality: Maintaining total confidentiality regarding pupils, staff, and school information is essential.">

Qualifications:

  • A current degree in your specialized field and registration with an appropriate body are required.">
  • You should have a proven track record of working with children and young people in challenging contexts.">
  • A range of experience in your specialized therapeutic field is essential.">
  • High competence in English and mathematics is a requirement.">
  • Operating in a classroom environment with children who have SEN and present challenging behavior is essential.">
  • Further training or qualifications related to therapy, children & young people, SEN, and leadership & management are desirable.">
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of therapy and wider therapies are required.">
  • Understanding of mental health in children, ACEs, trauma, and the impact of abuse and mental health difficulties on child development is essential.">
