Location: Home-based with travel across the county

Hours of Work: 37 hours, Monday to Friday 9am – 5 pm

Job Summary

At POhWER, we are committed to empowering individuals and enabling their voices to be heard. We are seeking a highly skilled Empowerment Specialist to join our team in Hertfordshire. As an Empowerment Specialist, you will provide crucial support to vulnerable adults facing significant health and social care challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support a wide range of adults with profound and multiple needs, providing advocacy and information services to enable them to make effective decisions about their health and social care.
  • Deliver persuasive verbal and written representations on behalf of clients, collaborating with public and voluntary organisations to address their issues.
  • Take directed actions to address clients' issues, working in partnership with clients and professionals to gain an understanding of their needs and concerns.
  • Provide a flexible and responsive service, adapting to the changing needs of clients and the community.
  • Work closely with the Community Manager to ensure that the service is delivered in accordance with the organisation's values and objectives.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in advocacy, information, or a similar role, ideally within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
  • Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable adults, with a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • Strong communication and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, with experience of using databases and other software systems.
  • A full driver's licence and access to your own transport, with the ability to travel across the county.
