Orthoptist Opportunity at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our dynamic team at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. As an Orthoptist, you will work closely with our team of Orthoptists and Consultants to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our department.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in specialist Clinics, including Strabismus, Paediatric-ophthalmology, Neuro-ophthalmology, Glaucoma and Medical Retina. This role will also include Community Clinics, where you will provide timely Orthoptic and visual field services to patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing Orthoptic and visual field services to patients at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and off-site Clinics.
  • Supervising and clinically instructing undergraduate Orthoptic students and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contributing to departmental teaching, research and audit.
Requirements
  • Orthoptic Degree or Diploma recognised for State Registration.
  • State Registration with the HCPC.
  • Degree awarded at 2:1 or above.
  • Exemptions Qualification.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience of the investigation, diagnosis and management of complex ocular motility defects.
  • Experience of assessment of children/adults with special needs.
  • Experience of Visual Field examination using Humphrey Visual Field Analyser.
  • Understanding of clinical audit.
  • Experience of Octopus Visual Fields.
  • Experience of Optical Coherence Tomography.
  • Experience in a tertiary referral hospital.
