We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in oncology and software engineering to join our Translational Sciences team.

This role will focus on leading the development, customization, and maintenance of a cutting-edge biomarker software solution designed to support our clinical-stage oncology portfolio.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of a sophisticated biomarker software platform tailored for clinical-stage oncology assets.
    • Collaborate with external programmers to design, develop, and implement data ingestion, processing, and wrangling pipelines.
    • Oversee the migration of existing R-scripts and Shiny apps onto the new software solution.
    • Integrate, analyze, and visualize biomarker and clinical data across targeted toxin and immune-oncology clinical trial programs.
    • Provide comprehensive training and support to Bicycle scientists on the platform.
  • Manage the integration of preclinical and clinical datasets (e.g., Nanostring, NGS) for translational research purposes.
  • Drive reverse translation analytics by integrating internal and external datasets and developing clear analyses and visualizations.
  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional environment, communicating seamlessly with data scientists, translational scientists, IT professionals, pharmacologists, and clinical researchers.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of data transfer specifications, R scripts, and data analysis processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building, customizing, and/or utilizing clinical biomarker software solutions.
  • Exceptional computational skills, including proficiency in at least one coding language (ideally R), with the ability to perform:
    • Data ingestion, wrangling, integration, and analysis
    • Design of bioinformatics pipelines (both strategically and technically)
    • Development of clear and effective data visualizations
    • Understanding of Shiny apps (or other UI strategies)
  • Strong software engineering skills, including familiarity with AWS, Posit, and Gitlab.
  • In-depth bioinformatics expertise, including experience analyzing sequencing data.
  • Familiarity with the oncology field and oncology-focused biomarker datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, ask questions, and independently drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative team player who is conscientious, organized, and creative.
