About the Role

The NZ Transport Agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pavement Construction and Maintenance Expert to join our team. As a Principal Pavements and Road Maintenance Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering quality pavement construction and pavement surfacing.

You will work closely with the Maintenance and Operations Group to monitor the quality of construction activities in the field and ensure these activities are linked to quality assurance documentation and requirements. Your focus will be on reducing the impact of poor quality of works for Aotearoa, through every interaction and the way you work with others to lift team capability and improve reporting and records management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance standards for pavement maintenance and operations
  • Drive quality standards in Pavement construction
  • Fixed term opportunity through to the end of June 2027
  • Based in Marlborough, Nelson or Canterbury

Requirements

  • Significant field experience in delivering pavement and surfacing works
  • Competent and demonstrated understanding in the application of ISO systems and the ability to audit against these standards
  • Ability to cross-examine contractors' systems to incentivise and improve performance
  • Civil Engineering Qualification – Diploma or equivalent
