Wessex Children's Hospice Trust (Naomi House) is a leading provider of palliative care services for children and young adults with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Nurse to provide high-quality palliative care to children and young adults with complex health needs. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing care, advice, and support to children, young adults, and their families.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a high standard of palliative care to children, young adults, and their families.
  • Develop and maintain clinical skills required to deliver complex care using evidence-based practice.
  • Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary care team, providing care, advice, and support in line with professional accountability.
  • Provide supervision and support to other members of the care team, valuing the skills and qualities of all team members.
  • Be aware of the safety and safeguarding needs of children, young adults, families, and other staff, and comply with relevant policies and procedures.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of clinical expertise, compassion, and communication skills. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to children and young adults with complex health needs.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse with valid up-to-date registration with the NMC.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • 1 year's post-qualification experience.
  • Experience and good understanding of clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, positivity, and good work ethic.
  • Understanding of the principles of equality, inclusivity, and diversity.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • RSCN/RN Child.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Palliative care course.
  • Experience of working with children and young adults with palliative care needs.
  • Sound nursing knowledge and clinical skills based on up-to-date research and best practice.
