About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to assist children with a range of needs, ensuring they are fully integrated into the classroom and able to access the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in delivering differentiated learning plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
  • Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies outlined in students' Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Monitor and track progress, providing feedback and contributing to assessments and reports.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with pupils, promoting confidence and self-esteem.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of different types of SEN, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or learning difficulties.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, but also to take initiative when required.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2/3) are desirable, but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
