About the Role

The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Medicine Specialist to join our team at The James Cook University Hospital. As a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of respiratory services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of healthcare professionals in the management of respiratory patients, including those with chronic conditions such as COPD and asthma.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as radiology and pathology, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of respiratory services.
  • Provide education and training to junior doctors and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration and MRCP (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Experience in respiratory medicine, including fibre-optic bronchoscopy and lung function testing.
  • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, with the ability to manage complex respiratory cases.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
