About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to join our team at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
The successful candidate will be working as part of our team of six Consultant Physicians within the Directorate of Respiratory Medicine, developing both acute and chronic respiratory services.
The post holder will participate in all aspects of the service, including specialist respiratory on-call with no acute medicine on-call commitments.
Main Responsibilities
The Directorate of Respiratory Medicine includes a 35-bedded inpatient ward, incorporating an 8-bedded Respiratory Support Unit for non-invasive ventilation, a Lung Cancer Nursing Team, TB Nursing Team, COPD Outreach Service, COVID-19 virtual ward service, domiciliary NIV, and a Specialist Respiratory Physiology Laboratory.
The post holder will be responsible for managing respiratory and general medical conditions, including fibre-optic bronchoscopy and lung function testing.
About Us
The hospital has an excellent cardiothoracic unit and three consultant radiologists with an interest in respiratory disease/thoracic malignancy.
The trust is a designated Lung Cancer Centre with radiotherapy and chemotherapy services available at The James Cook University Hospital site.
Requirements
- Full GMC registration
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- Either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
- Ability to organise and prioritise complex demands
- Effective communication skills
What We Offer
The successful candidate will be appointed under the current terms and conditions of service for NHS Consultants.
