About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to join our team at The James Cook University Hospital. As a key member of our Respiratory Medicine Directorate, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality patient care services.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert clinical care to patients with respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, COPD, and TB
  • Leading and participating in multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement respiratory services
  • Contributing to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Supervising and training junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives

About Us

The James Cook University Hospital is a leading cardiothoracic unit with a strong reputation for excellence in respiratory medicine. Our team of six Consultant Physicians works closely with other specialties to provide comprehensive care to patients with respiratory conditions. We have a range of facilities, including a modern endoscopy suite and a specialist respiratory physiology laboratory.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Full GMC registration and MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Either be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of receiving your Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
