Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Revenue Officer to join our team at Midlothian Council. As a key member of our Revenues Service, you will play a vital role in delivering an efficient and effective service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and process Council tax and housing benefits and rent allowance claims
  • Assess and process claims for crisis and community care grants
  • Process housing rents in accordance with house letting information
  • Review benefit cases in accordance with legislative requirements and revenues policy
  • Identify overpaid benefits and possible fraud cases
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) technician/certificate qualification. Alternatively, you can join us as a Trainee Revenues Officer and undertake a course of study leading to the IRRV certificate qualification.

As a Trainee Revenues Officer, you will be required to have at least 3 Standard Grades or equivalent, including English and Maths. It is a condition of service for all trainees to undertake a course of study leading to the Certificate qualification awarded by the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV).

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The minimum actual salary for this position is £28,095 per annum.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
