About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive external communications strategy in collaboration with the head of external communications and investor relations.
  • Manage day-to-day press office activities, ensuring timely responses to media enquiries.
  • Write and disseminate press releases, op-eds, feature comments, and social media content to promote the company's corporate brand.
  • Originate and brief senior leaders for media interviews, speaking engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the management of reputational issues, working closely with the head of external communications and investor relations, and PR advisors.
  • Measure and report communications results to internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the management of The Very Group's corporate website.
  • Lead key projects related to The Very Group's corporate brand, including creative and tone of voice initiatives.

    About You

    We seek a passionate, ambitious, and down-to-earth individual who is eager to accelerate their knowledge, skills, and development within a high-performing team.

    • Three to five years of experience in corporate PR, with a mix of agency and in-house experience being highly desirable.
    • Experience working in or with large, complex businesses, particularly in retail, tech, and financial services sectors.
    • A track record of organizing and planning communications strategies, using tactics to achieve objectives.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling copy and attention to detail.
    • Creativity and a 'nose for a story' in delivering proactive media coverage and owned content.
    • Understanding of issues management and the ability to recognize potential reputational risks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence senior leaders.
    • Confidence in speaking to journalists and other external stakeholders.
    • High levels of self-motivation and time management.
    • A strong grasp of social media platforms and experience in website management.
