Child Care Law Specialist

Opus People Solutions Ltd, acting on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council, is seeking a skilled Child Care Law Specialist to provide maternity cover in their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality legal services to the Council by providing expert advice and assistance.
- Collaborate with the Law and Governance Service team to achieve excellent results across various functions.
- Provide legal advice and representation to Northamptonshire Children's Trust within the Childcare team.
- Manage a caseload of straightforward legal work, including advocacy, PLO cases, and drafting documents efficiently.
- Prepare instructions and briefs for Counsel or external advisors as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, codes of practice, and policy updates.
- Develop strong relationships with fellow officers and foster partnerships with external agencies.
- Contribute to customer-focused service development, requiring knowledge of Local Government legislation and experience working in a busy legal department.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law or related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Child Care Law or similar role.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
The estimated annual salary for this position is £50,000 - £65,000 based on local market rates and industry standards. The actual compensation may vary depending on qualifications and experience.
