Job Summary

We are seeking a recent Civil Engineering Graduate to join our team at Van Elle, the UK's largest and most diverse geotechnical and ground engineering contractor.

This challenging and demanding role will provide a fantastic opportunity to begin your engineering career alongside the support offered from our vastly experienced team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Operations Management: Support the management of site operations to ensure safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production, and customer satisfaction.
  • Planning and Sequencing: Assist in planning and sequencing of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant, and material resources.
  • Operational Quality Control: Implement operational quality control measures and QA processes.
  • Work Planning: Develop work plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor the progress of project works.
  • Health and Safety: Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for Health and Safety, ensuring all required documentation is in place.
  • Communication: Ensure full communication across all management levels within the project.
  • Client Meetings: Attend regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise performance.
  • Operative Support: Ensure that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials, and information for the carrying out of their duties and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed.
  • Quality Inspections: Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
  • Company Values: Conduct yourself in a way that reflects and promotes the Van Elle company values.
  • Policies and Procedures: Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering: Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Practical Experience: Be able to demonstrate practical experience from construction or similar transferrable skills.
  • AutoCAD Experience: Experience with AutoCAD preferable.
  • IT Competence: IT competent in Microsoft packages.
  • CSCS Card: Valid CSCS Card.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Time Management: Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: Good attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Planning and Organisation: Effective planning and organisation skills.
  • Problem Solving: A structured approach to problem solving.
  • Communication Skills: Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and Technical Skills: Strong analytical, mathematical, and technical skills.
  • Legal and Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of the relevant legal and safety regulations.
Other Requirements
  • Eligibility to Work in the UK: Eligible to work and live in the UK.
  • Flexibility to Travel: Flexibility to travel in the UK.
  • Driving Licence: A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK.

  • Working Hours: Hours of work are 7.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
