About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to join our team at Van Elle, a leading geotechnical and ground engineering contractor in the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of site operations, ensuring safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management of site operations to ensure safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in planning and sequencing of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant, and material resources.
  • Implement operational quality control measures and QA processes.
  • Develop work plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor the progress of project works.
  • Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for Health and Safety, ensuring all required documentation is in place.
  • Ensure full communication across all management levels within the project.
  • Attend regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise performance.
  • Ensure that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials, and information for the carrying out of their duties and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed.
  • Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
  • Conduct yourself in a way that reflects and promotes the Van Elle company values.
  • Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Ability to demonstrate practical experience from construction or similar transferrable skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferable.
  • IT competent in Microsoft packages.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Effective planning and organisation skills.
  • A structured approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of the relevant legal and safety regulations.

  • Hours of work are 7.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
