Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team at Van Elle, a leading geotechnical and ground engineering contractor. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the management of site operations, ensuring safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Operations Management: Assist in planning and sequencing of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant, and material resources.
  • Quality Control: Implement operational quality control measures and QA processes to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
  • Project Management: Develop work plans, method statements, and risk assessments, and monitor the progress of project works.
  • Health and Safety: Take a proactive approach in ensuring all required documentation is in place, and ensure full communication across all management levels within the project.
  • Client Communication: Attend regular meetings with the client to discuss and appraise performance.
  • Operational Support: Ensure that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials, and information for the carrying out of their duties, and ensure that safe working practices are followed.
  • Quality Inspections: Conduct quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
  • Company Values: Conduct yourself in a way that reflects and promotes the Van Elle company values.
  • Policies and Procedures: Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle's policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Experience: Be able to demonstrate practical experience from construction or similar transferrable skills.
  • Skills: Experience with AutoCAD preferable, IT competent in Microsoft packages, valid CSCS Card, ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure, good attention to detail and accuracy of work, effective planning and organisation skills, structured approach to problem solving, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, mathematical, and technical skills, knowledge of the relevant legal and safety regulations.
  • Eligibility: Eligible to work and live in the UK, flexibility to travel in the UK, full driving licence, valid in the UK.
