Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting clinical pharmacists, community pharmacists, and other members of the Primary Care Network multi-disciplinary team. This exciting opportunity is part of a programme to develop a new model of care, focusing on person-centred, coordinated care across the Network.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will lead improvements to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing, enhancing the quality of patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients in getting the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols.
  • Improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering.
  • Minimising clinical risk and reducing wasted medicines.
  • Encouraging the development of better understanding of medicines optimisation principles throughout the practice teams.
  • Promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments.
About Us

Riverside Surgery is a purpose-built practice in the centre of Brigg, with a branch surgery located in Broughton. We have merged with Trent View Medical Practice, covering a further three sites. Our team of five GP partners care for nearly 24,500 patients, and we are a Training Practice, hosting medical students and nurses. We offer work placements and are a dispensing practice with a pharmacy attached at both sites in Brigg and Broughton.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying patient pharmaceutical care needs, non-compliance with medication, and the need for medication aids.
  • Providing patients with advice on medicines/aids that meet their individual needs.
  • Communicating with all levels of pharmacy staff and nursing and medical staff in dealing with prescription queries and discrepancies.
  • Supervising, teaching, or mentoring the work of Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support Workers, Apprentices, and other less experienced staff.
  • Participating in data collections and audit of medicines management services.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a pharmacy.
  • Experience of working in Primary or Secondary Care.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Packages.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Professional Registration with GPhC.
  • NVQ Level 3 or Higher In Pharmacy Services or BTEC Qualification.
