Job Title: Business Development Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a Business Development Manager to provide support and guidance to a group of independent retailers within the Independent SPAR estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on promotional activity, range-review, store layout, and operational effectiveness.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participate in in-store projects to enhance business development.
  • Build trust with internal and external customers.
  • Set goals, monitor customer performance, and implement measurable business plans using KPIs.
  • Manage customer loyalty, ensuring product purchases align with sales targets.
  • Ensure sales to independent customers meet quarterly and yearly targets.
  • Work with Retail Services to carefully manage retail development projects.
  • Advise customers on systems for maximum gross profit.
  • Recruitment of new stores.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Store Manager or in a Senior Account Management position within food retail/convenience/supermarket sector.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and showcase business development skills from previous roles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience in achieving budgets and targets.
  • Proven history of identifying and maximising business development opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • A full, valid UK/EU driving license.
