Education Welfare Officer

We are seeking an experienced Attendance Administrator to join our team at Aspire People. As a key member of our school support team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording and monitoring of student attendance.
Key Responsibilities:- Attendance Data Management: Input attendance data, investigate missing data, and maintain accurate attendance records, including Covid-related absences and unexplained lesson absences.
- Electronic Registration System: Update the electronic registration system daily, investigating any missing data with class teachers.
- Attendance Records: Record student absences and late arrivals on SIMS, maintaining accurate attendance records.
- Parental Communication: Make initial enquiries with parents/carers regarding unexplained absences/lateness, including first-day calling.
- Attendance Monitoring: Monitor the attendance of students, referring concerns to the Pastoral Leaders.
- Attendance Promotion: Promote good attendance within the school.
- Holiday Requests: Process and action student holiday requests.
- Correspondence: Issue routine correspondence to parents/carers regarding attendance/absence requests in accordance with the school procedure.
- Referrals and Liaison: Assist the Assistant Headteachers with the administration of referrals to the education welfare service/issuing of penalty notices, undertaking routine liaison with external agencies regarding attendance.
- Reporting and Analysis: Collate attendance data, producing routine reports and preparing statistical returns regarding attendance and submitting to reporting bodies where appropriate.
- Compliance and Confidentiality: Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Representation and Liaison: Represent MGGS at regular Attendance Officers meetings, liaising with Heads of Study and Assistant Headteachers over attendance concerns.
- Attendance Analysis: Identify attendance issues and patterns of absence/late arrivals.
- Parental Contact: Contact parents over all aspects of attendance, including written correspondence when required.
- Reporting and Liaison: Produce attendance reports for Heads of Study on a weekly basis and other individual reports when requested, liaising with external agencies over persistent absence or other attendance issues.
- Meetings and Administration: Attend meetings with external agencies and parents as required, completing administration tasks as directed by the line manager.
