Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team at Warburtons. As a key member of our site management team, you will be responsible for ensuring that effective management systems are in place to deliver our Occupational Health and Safety and Environment Policy and meet legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the National Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy, ensuring that HSE best practice standards are developed and maintained on site that are compliant with statutory and company policy.
  • Manage HSE spend locally to ensure it is within budget.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to line managers on site in all aspects of Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • Foster a positive HSE culture by ensuring the accountability for HSE is accepted by managers and employees.
  • Identify HSE learning needs for the site and provide cost-effective solutions to meet these needs.
  • Lead initiatives to improve commitment at all levels to continuously improve standards of HSE and benefit site performance.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role, ideally in an FMCG organisation.
  • General knowledge of all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment with a good level of expertise in handling audits from internal and external parties.
  • Good knowledge of Health Safety and Environment legislation.
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Chartered Membership (or working towards) of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • IEMA Environmental Foundation certificate, for permitted sites IEMA Associate Certificate.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS18001 management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate, influential; persuasive; impactful verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent relationship builder- establishing credibility and building rapport with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Problem solver: able to find a safe and compliant resolution to issues and promote safety as an enabler not a blocker.
  • Decisive: able to make decisions, in a timely manner, and be accountable.
