Maternity Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior midwife to join our team as a Labour Ward Sister. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to women and their babies, while also leading and mentoring a small team of midwives.
Main Responsibilities- Manage the clinical area of responsibility, ensuring high standards of intrapartum care.
- Assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care for women and their babies.
- Work autonomously within guidelines and sphere of professional practice, providing leadership and guidance to junior staff.
- Act as a mentor for new qualified and junior midwives, promoting their professional development and growth.
- Provide a full range of health education and social care advice to women in the hospital setting.

Person Specification- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients, and relatives.
- Logical approach to working, with thorough and accurate documentation.
- Treats all individuals with compassion and kindness, respecting their cultural, religious, and emotional needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, with an understanding of risk management processes.
- Awareness and knowledge of audit, quality, and service improvement initiatives.
- Willingness to undertake further study, with a Master's degree or evidence of Level 7.
- Experience acquiring and interpreting patient feedback, with a focus on improving patient care.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Band 6 midwife, with a proven track record of leadership and mentoring.
- Ability to mentor students, with a focus on promoting their professional development.
- Appraisal experience, with a focus on supporting staff growth and development.
