We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with a Year 5 pupil in a 1:1 setting, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.

The ideal candidate will have experience in SEN/SEMH and/or pastoral care, with a strong understanding of behavioural management and additional SEN/SEMH requirements. You will be a patient, kind, and supportive individual who is motivated to help our pupils succeed.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and has a comprehensive knowledge of support/intervention programmes for SEND. If you are a confident, compassionate, and proactive individual who is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our pupils, we want to hear from you.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated consultant who will invest time in understanding your experience, skill-set, and ideal role. You will receive regular updates on your progress, as well as support and guidance throughout the clearance and onboarding process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs
  • Developing and implementing individualized support plans
  • Collaborating with the pupil's teacher and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to support
  • Managing challenging behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive behavior
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers to ensure a consistent approach to support

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience in SEN/SEMH and/or pastoral care
  • Strong understanding of behavioural management and additional SEN/SEMH requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of support/intervention programmes for SEND
  • Patience, kindness, and a supportive approach
  • Confidence, compassion, and proactivity
