Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Behavioural Support Specialist to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. as a Behaviour Support Practitioner on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

Job Summary:

We are working closely with a Local Authority in Enfield to provide support to children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, and behaviours of concern. The successful candidate will work closely with families, carers, and school settings to embed strategies and interventions that promote positive change, build skills, and develop resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, safe care and support to children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, and behaviours of concern, using a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
  • Support children and young people in their homes, centres, or communities to give parents and carers a break from their caring responsibilities.
  • Work intensively with parents, carers, and school settings to develop and implement strategies and interventions that promote positive change, build skills, and develop resilience.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to families on the phone or in person to prevent escalation of behaviours of concern in challenging situations.
  • Work outside of normal working hours to ensure timely advice and support can be provided to avoid escalation of a crisis.

Requirements:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in childcare and/or health and social care is desirable.
  • Proven ability to work directly with disabled children and young people who have multiple and complex needs and behaviours of concern in a professional setting, in family homes and in the community.

Important Notes:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the U.K.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS.
