Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at a modern residential children's home in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people between the ages of 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people, preferably in a residential setting. You will be responsible for leading by example, mentoring and supporting newer staff members, and promoting the independence and well-being of the young people in our care.

We offer a comprehensive training package, including scheduled ongoing face-to-face training and CPD planning. You will also have access to discounts for shopping outlets, restaurants, and cinema's, as well as a company pension and 28 days annual leave.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
  • Mentor and support newer staff members
  • Encourage young people to take responsibility for their own lives
  • Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when needed
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
  • Maintain a safe environment for the young people
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or with Young People is ESSENTIAL
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is ESSENTIAL
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People
