We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Children's Support Worker to join our team at a modern residential children's home in Exeter. The successful candidate will provide support to young people aged 8-16 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a busy and ever-changing environment, providing a safe and caring environment for the young people. They will be responsible for encouraging the young people to take responsibility for their own lives, maintaining a homely and friendly culture, and dealing with challenging behaviours when needed.

As a Children's Support Worker, you will be required to transport young people on occasion, so a full UK driving licence is essential. You will also be required to work closely with other professionals, including social workers and psychologists, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the young people.

The role offers a competitive salary of £31,840-£34,240, inclusive of sleeps, and a comprehensive training package, including scheduled ongoing face-to-face training and CPD planning. You will also have the opportunity to work towards the QCF Level 4 Children and Young People qualification, fully funded by the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to take responsibility for their own lives
  • Maintain a homely and friendly culture
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when needed
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
  • Maintain a safe environment for the young people
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Age 21 or over
  • Ability to commute to Exeter
