Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team at Colas Road UK. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of highway maintenance activities, including gully emptying, winter maintenance, sweeping and cleaning activities, soft estate clearance, and traffic management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out highway maintenance activities, including gully emptying, winter maintenance, sweeping and cleaning activities, soft estate clearance, and traffic management.
  • Work closely with your team members to promote effective health and safety within the workplace.
  • Ensure defined safe systems of work and risk assessments are adhered to.
  • Participate in incident management and winter service.
  • Effectively use Colas Road UK plant and fleet, and ensure all vehicles are checked safe before taking out in accordance with company policy.
  • Work within Colas Road UK processes to effectively manage administrative tasks, such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour and material use, etc.
  • Maintain a professional approach, positively reflecting the image of the company.
  • Undertake all other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager or ganger, as required by the business.

Requirements

  • A full clean UK driving license.
  • A class C HGV with CPC is preferable.
  • Any experience of highways maintenance and any relevant highways qualifications is desirable (VRS, TM, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate, etc.).
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to work with initiative.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
