Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team at Colas Road UK. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out highway maintenance duties, including winter maintenance and emergency response. You will work as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of our highway infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out highway maintenance duties, including gully emptying, winter maintenance, sweeping and cleaning activities, soft estate clearance, and traffic management.
- Work closely with your team members to promote effective health and safety within the workplace.
- Ensure defined safe systems of work and risk assessments are adhered to.
- Participate in incident management and winter service.
- Effectively use Colas plant and fleet and ensure all vehicles are checked safe before taking out in accordance with company policy.
- Work within Colas' processes to effectively manage administrative tasks, such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour and material use, etc.
- Maintain a professional approach and positively reflect the image of the company.
- Undertake all other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager or ganger as required by the business.
Requirements
- A full clean UK driving license.
- A class C HGV with CPC is preferable.
- Any experience of highways maintenance and any relevant highways qualifications is desirable (VRS, TM, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate, etc.).
- A can-do attitude and willingness to work with initiative.
- Good communication skills and capable of working in high-pressure environments.
