Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out various highway maintenance activities, including gully emptying, winter maintenance, sweeping and cleaning activities, soft estate clearance, and traffic management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out highway maintenance activities, including gully emptying, winter maintenance, sweeping and cleaning activities, soft estate clearance, and traffic management.
  • Work closely with team members to promote effective health and safety within the workplace.
  • Ensure defined safe systems of work and risk assessments are adhered to.
  • Participate in incident management and winter service.
  • Effectively use Colas Road UK plant and fleet, ensuring all vehicles are checked safe before taking out in accordance with company policy.
  • Work within Colas Road UK processes to effectively manage administrative tasks, such as timesheet collation, capturing plant, labour, and material use.
  • Maintain a professional approach, positively reflecting the image of Colas Road UK.
  • Undertake all other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager or ganger as required by the business.

Requirements

  • A full clean UK driving license.
  • A class C HGV with CPC is preferable.
  • Any experience of highways maintenance and any relevant highways qualifications is desirable (VRS, TM, Gully Emptying, Soft Estate, etc.).
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to work with initiative.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
