Job Title: Policy Business Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Policy Business Director to lead the development of an integrated advisory offer to meet market need and priorities across our European Hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving growth across Europe while managing business-to-business activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategy development and business plans
  • Lead go-to-market strategy, client relations, and business development/position of the Advisory service offer across Europe
  • Lead service excellence and quality management on commissions across a portfolio
  • Lead the professional development, retention, and progression of talented teams
  • Develop thought leadership and industry insights to raise the profile of the Mace advisory offer
  • Achieve operational excellence, delivering the required commercial outcomes
  • Set the tone culture and model behaviors for Mace advisory
  • Technical leadership of Mace with a visible presence in external markets as a thought leader
  • Influence strategic development and execute strategy to achieve vision across functions and/or teams
  • Set priorities and provide input into execution plans in the achievement of departmental key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Accountable for business (and pipeline) development and work winning, bringing together appropriate capabilities and resourcing to fulfill current and future client needs
  • Lead multiple commission teams to achieve agreed outputs, taking a leadership role working across multiple organizations and sectors
  • Hold full accountability for the performance of a portfolio of commissions and/or service lines
  • Maintain, cultivate, and establish a strong collaborative network, developing partnerships with key senior internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Experience of developing a vision and leading all aspects of delivery
  • Experience of strategic leadership in all components of project and programme management and delivery (policy, strategy, client environment) related to property or infrastructure
  • Experience of delivering client or organizational strategy
  • Ability to apply cross-sector thinking
  • Considered a subject matter expert in one or more specialist capabilities e.g. financial modeling, governance, transformation, planning, business case etc
  • In-depth experience of delivery of an advisory service and demonstrates added value to programme and project delivery
  • Significant experience of leading a service line in a specialist field
  • Strategic thinking/global mindset
  • Ability to generate new and unique options or solutions to complex issues
  • In-depth experience of stakeholder management and client relationship on complex and politically/commercially sensitive programmes and/or projects in an unstable environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands across a portfolio of commissions
  • Ability to manage conflict gaining positive outcomes for the client and team
  • Advanced presentation and report writing skills, ability to influence c-suite decision makers and/or politicians
  • Ability to lead teams on multiple commissions in uncertain political and economic environments
  • Lead a multi-professional team across a portfolio of diverse commissions
  • Ability to fulfill the role of commission director
  • Proven ability to secure work packages from new and existing clients and create a future pipeline of work
  • Line management experience at a service line level
  • Experience of taking ownership for overall function performance by taking on corporate responsibilities

Desirable:

  • System thinking/leadership experience - ability to make sense of complex markets and sectors
  • Evidence of global transformation in a market/sector
  • Management or leadership qualification (e.g. CMI, MBA etc) (or equivalent)
  • Formal coaching or mentorship experience
