Mechanical Plant Operator

Veolia is seeking a skilled Mechanical Plant Operator to join our team. As a Shift Plant Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation of our Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).
Key Responsibilities
• Provide shift coverage to ensure continuous ERF operation
• Assist Shift Team Leader in monitoring and operating plant from Central Control Room
• Coordinate control room operations for consistent power production and steam turbine operation
• Take immediate corrective action during emergencies to limit risks
• Safely shut down and restart plant sections according to procedures
• Perform emergency operations during unit trips and abnormal conditions
• Carry out lockout-tagout isolations and understand applied risk hazards
• Conduct routine plant inspections, adjustments, and data collection
Requirements
• Interested in mechanical & electrical plant with some experience of plant operations, ideally with experience as an Engineering role
• Appropriate NVQ for the duties of the post
• Experience gained through working in a continuous process environment, preferably with experience of working shifts
• Able to operate, or train to operate a variety of auxiliary and fixed plant
• Able to work a continuous rotating shift pattern, including adequate voluntary overtime to cover the workload and colleagues' absences
• Self-motivated, able to prioritise tasks and work with minimal supervision
• An effective team member, able to communicate well orally and in writing
• Flexible, with a creative approach to problem-solving
