About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our Infrastructure team at Galliford Try. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our infrastructure projects, ensuring that we deliver high-quality services to our clients while maintaining a strong focus on cost control and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creating a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Produce and negotiate subcontract documentation, including terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
  • Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
  • Produce and issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors as required by the form of contract.
  • Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
  • Produce and submit monthly applications to clients in accordance with the form of contract.
  • Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the required standard.
  • Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations as required by the business unit or project.
  • Produce and maintain a detailed 'Cost Plan', tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of subcontractor 'liabilities' and use of Oracle-based cost analyses.
  • Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
  • Attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
  • Apply the principles of 'Doing the right thing' in maximising value and profit, and be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.

About You:

  • You will have a good appreciation of standard forms of contract and strong IT skills, including Excel, Word, and Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
  • You will have solid knowledge of construction processes and first-class time and outcome management skills.
  • You will be a professional with a qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally an incorporated member working towards full membership.
  • You will have relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant commercial environment, with exposure to large single or multiple smaller schemes.
  • You will hold a CSCS card.
