Job Title: Human Factors Assessor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Factors Assessor to join our major projects team, providing specialist human factors design and safety assessment expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake human factors design and safety case assessment, interfacing with engineering, project management, and document management functions.
  • Act in any human factors or equivalent role, supporting the Safety Case Manager and wider Programme safety case and engineering leads.
  • Assist the Head of Profession in capability development, resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence establishment.
  • Advise Amentum and client leadership on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Interface with suppliers and support the client in interactions with regulators and safety committees.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education).
  • Human Factors assessment and HAZAN production experience.
  • Experience of UK and International standards, Technical Assessment Guides.
  • Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Experience of ergonomics/human factors design.
  • Experience of relevant code (THERP, HEART etc.) application in a wide range of nuclear operations and fault scenarios.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Good MS applications, organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Desirable:
  • Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
  • Project management and project controls skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and coach.
