We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Safety Specialist to join our team.

Purpose and Scope:

As a Radiological Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for providing radiological safety assessments and associated activities.

You will work closely with engineering, project management, and document management functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake radiological safety assessments and associated activities.
  • Act in any safety assessment or equivalent role.
  • Support the Safety Case Manager.
  • Support wider Programme safety case and engineering leads when requested.
  • Assist the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment of resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence.
  • Advise Amentum and Client leadership, engineering, programme, and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Interface as necessary with suppliers.
  • Support the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education).
  • Human Factors assessment and HAZAN production experience.
  • Experience of UK and International standards, Technical Assessment Guides.
  • Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Experience of ergonomics/human factors design.
  • Experience of relevant code (THERP, HEART etc.) application in a wide range of nuclear operations and fault scenarios.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Good MS applications, organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work.

Desirable:

  • Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
  • Project management and project controls skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and coach.
