About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Underwriting Specialist to join our Hull team in London. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in managing the profitability of our book, ensuring that business strategy is executed, and performance results are monitored and reported upon.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the underwriting of a particular Line of Business, supporting the overall profitability, growth, and retention of the Line of Business, and consistency of all related underwriting initiatives.
  • E nsuring that the business is written in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and controls (including audit requirements) at all times, and adheres to Lloyds Underwriting Management Standards.
  • Supporting the development of assigned Line of Business and services, including researching and identifying target business, competitor information, industry and economic factors across the business.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports, and providing guidance on the Company's underwriting philosophy, procedures, and requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree education preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry business operations and work methods, critical business issues, and financial drivers that affect the Line of Business.
  • Experience in underwriting, preferably in the Lloyd's and/or company market.
  • ACII qualification preferred.

We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 per annum, plus a range of benefits, including:

  • Private Medical Insurance: On commencement of employment, you are eligible for single cover provided by SLL Travelers Management, LTD, with the option to add cover for your dependents.
  • Retirement: The Company contributes 9% of pensionable salary to your Group Personal Pension Plan (GPPP), with the option to contribute an additional amount from your salary.
  • Holiday Entitlement: You will start with a minimum of 25 days holiday entitlement annually, plus the opportunity to purchase additional days.
