This role is for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Marine Hull team. The candidate will look to maintain relationships with brokers, clients and business partners to manage a renewal portfolio and help develop new business opportunities.

The Marine Hull team provides insurance for a wide range of vessels and carriers on a global basis, from the largest, most sophisticated cruise vessels through to bulk carriers, tankers, gas carriers, reefer vessels, harbour and offshore support vessels.

The team works closely with partners to tailor their products to the changing market conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of the annual business plan development in accordance with stated risk tolerances.
  • Maintain and develop broker relationships.
  • Assist the team with day-to-day duties in quoting, reviewing renewals and new business.
  • Act as a conduit between underwriters and underwriting assistants.
  • Use rating tools and portals to capture data across the portfolio, analysing this data and providing insights back to the underwriting team.
  • Contribute to meetings to share strategy, knowledge and best practice.
  • Develop knowledge of market dynamics and cycles to support the performance of the underwriting team.
  • Support analysis and review of output to identify opportunities and/or trends to assist the team in achieving business objectives.
  • Process entries onto relevant systems in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and demonstrate behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
