- Evaluate and Appraise Data: Assess and prioritize risk levels, compare data to standards, and identify areas for improvement to enhance environmental health conditions.
- Enforce Legal Standards: Utilize legal powers to enforce minimum environmental health standards, including serving notices, seizing equipment, and pursuing court proceedings.
- Specify and Supervise Works: Schedule and supervise required works to improve environmental health conditions, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Effectively communicate with the public, businesses, and other agencies to respond to complaints, explain legislative standards, and promote council initiatives.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with colleagues across the authority to develop and improve joint projects, share knowledge, and provide authoritative advice.
- Qualifications and Experience: Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHRB), and significant post-qualification experience in Environmental Health, including knowledge of legislation, regulations, and good practice.
- Specialized Experience: Detailed experience in one of the following Environmental Health specialisms: Food safety, Health & safety, Housing, Pollution control, Port Health, or Infectious Disease Control.
- Theoretical Knowledge: Ability to apply theoretical knowledge of Environmental Health in practical situations.
- Commitment to Quality: Commitment to quality of service, customer focus, and equality of access to services.
