Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Solos Consultants Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of the public by enforcing environmental health standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and Collect Data: Conduct thorough inspections of premises, investigate incidents and accidents, and collect data on environmental factors to inform decision-making.
  • Evaluate and Appraise Data: Assess and prioritize risk levels, comparing data with standards to identify areas for improvement and determine the most effective methods for enhancing environmental health conditions.
  • Enforce Regulations: Use legal powers to enforce minimum environmental health standards, including the preparation of prosecution files, interviewing under caution, and liaising with legal professionals as necessary.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Engage with the public, businesses, and other agencies to respond to complaints, explain legislative standards, and promote council initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with colleagues across the authority to develop and improve joint projects and ways of working, including acting as a Primary Authority Manager and providing authoritative advice.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHRB)
  • Considerable post-qualification Environmental Health practice experience with a good knowledge and understanding of Environmental Health issues
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations
  • Commitment to quality of service, customer focus, and equality of access to services
