Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Our client, Solos Consultants Ltd, is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a corporately responsible and accessible Environmental Health service, delivering legislative enforcement, advice, and education to promote and secure an enhanced sustainable and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and collect data on environmental health conditions, including surveying premises, investigating incidents, and measuring environmental factors.
  • Evaluate and appraise collected data, assessing and prioritizing levels of risk and comparing with standards to establish areas for improvement.
  • Use legal powers to enforce minimum environmental health standards, including serving legal notices, making orders, and pursuing court proceedings.
  • Specify, schedule, and supervise required works to improve environmental health conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, businesses, and other stakeholders to respond to complaints, explain legislative standards, and promote council initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other agencies to develop and improve joint projects and ways of working.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHRB).
  • Considerable post-qualification Environmental Health practice experience and a good knowledge of Environmental Health issues.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations and commitment to quality of service, customer focus, and equality of access to services.
