Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)? If so, we are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Support Assistant for SEMH Students.

We are working in partnership with a school near Poole that caters for students between the ages of 7-16 who cannot attend school due to medical needs or anxiety. The school also provides support for young people between the ages of 7-11 with SEMH needs. As a Support Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom. You will assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions to support student progress, foster positive relationships with students, promote their social and emotional well-being, and implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques as required.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Providing individualised support to students with SEMH needs
  2. Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
  3. Fostering positive relationships with students and promoting their social and emotional well-being
  4. Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
Benefits include an estimated salary of £25,000 per annum, which is competitive with national averages. Previous experience working with individuals with SEMH needs is highly desirable, but not essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues are essential. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people facing challenges are also crucial. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of our students and school community are required.
