We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Welfare Manager to lead our team in providing exceptional animal care and welfare standards. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the zoo department, including the animal collection, education program, conservation initiatives, and guest-facing activities.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years' experience in a zoo or similar attraction, with a strong understanding of the Zoo Licensing Act and Secretary of State's Standards of Modern Zoo Practice. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to drive best practice and high standards of welfare, husbandry, and educational innovations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to enhance animal welfare and conservation efforts
  • Liaising with stakeholders, including keepers, educators, and other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Maintaining high standards of animal care and welfare through regular monitoring and reporting
  • Fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the zoo team

We offer a competitive annual salary of £60,000 - £80,000, 33 days holiday, and a range of benefits including Merlin Annual Passes, company bonus, and single private medical cover.
